C Ds

I have recorded and produced 6 CD’s. Three of them are are a mix of original and traditional music, while the other three are Prairie Folklore Theatre CD’s with a blend of storytelling and music. All of them will be available on line soon.

Wind and the Water, my first solo CD release, features all original music and some of Nashville's finest session musicians including members of Amy Grant’s, Stephen Stills’ and EmmyLou Harris’ bands. This was recorded in nashville at Cedar House Studios. It includes crowd favorites like First Generation, a song that explores my family's roots including their immigration from Ireland in the earliest days of American History; David's Requiem, a song about a good friend who left this earth too early; The Wind and the Water, the title track based on the life of a rogue sailor I was knew for too short a time.

After the Storm? A Celtic/Americana piece, featuring one original song, “The Edge of New Orleans” and several beautiful songs from the Celtic/Irish tradition.

Yuletide Fire? An acoustic Christmas CD, with two originals songs, one instrumental, “Celtic Christmas” and one with vocals, “The Shepherd’s Tale”

Prairie Folklore Theatre has also produced CD’s of three of it’s original shows which can be ordered on-line if you follow the link.

Prairie Fire A celebration of bison and covered wagons, wolves and wigwams, this tapestry of American Indian and pioneer stories and songs will bring to life the struggle to survive in this fiery ocean of waving grasses. Barry Cloyd contributes three original songs to this epic march through time, from the geological formation of prairie, through the American Indian and Pioneer history, this CD explores our relationship to the American savannah and the role of fire in its preservation.

A Prairie Christmas Celebrate this holiday season with songs and stories from not so long ago, and not so far away. In this toe-tapping tour of an old-fashioned Christmas you can sing along with your favorite carols and explore the stories behind the songs. Blending tales from pioneer days with local history and Old English carols, we rejoice in the true meaning of the holiest of seasons.

River Ghosts Drawing from the writings of Mark Twain and true stories of local ghosts, this show is a mix of haunting ballads and spooky tales that are sure to make your flesh crawl. Brian "Fox" Ellis and Barry Cloyd weave together songs and stories from the Riverboat Era. From the modern “Ghost with Red Hair” to Mark Twain’s “Ghost with the Golden Arm” there is something here for everyone. Many of these stories are based on real events gleaned from newspaper accounts and eyewitness testimony. Is it real? That is something for you to decide! But I can tell this I know for certain: History is sometimes a scary subject!

Upcoming projects include Barry’s fourth solo CD, titled, “The Rainmaker’s Garden”, Celtricity’s first CD and Prairie Folklore Theatre’s Show “Canoe Song”, tales of the first French Explorers, The Voyageurs.
